I (and I guess a lot of others on this thead) don't have those popping and clicking problems. This is a major factor on why the speed is so quick Having the RAM, GPU, CPU, et cetera, internally, eliminates these relatively quite long traces for, in the case of RAM, Read and Write functions. Wider, for there is more surface area, but there is just so much real estate on a mother board available and shorter, for there is less time spent with data, being sent back and forth, living on the traces themselves, at any given moment. Only by making them wider or shorter will make a significant difference. So, making them thicker (deeper) wouldn't give you an appreciable change. The high frequency data travels on the outside, surface of the trace. Typically, Traces on motherboards replaces wires, but are extremely thin, surface mounted connections with a gold plating (there to prevent corrosion). No longer having to send data back and forth to the RAM via relatively very long, thin lines of copper, which was left un-etched on the board, after being protected before its 'acid wash', called Traces. The Unified Memory, of course, has the RAM right inside the chip, so it can serve up its stored data to whatever it needs to, in acutely rapid ways. Do note that, on apple's site, it states the Max's CPU as having 10 cores, and the Pro CPU as having UP TO 10 cores. This practice lowers the price on both the Pro and the Mac, for there is less waste after a complicated and expensive run of the SOC's. This is not new to chip manufacturing, or even component manufacturing, and has been going on for decades. Apple can use the lower amount of Cores on these, they have a solid PRO chip, If they have all cores working fine, they have a MAX chip. The Pro's are simply MAX's where 1 or more CPU and/or GPU Cores haven't passed QC. The most important difference between Max and Pro (if that is what you are referring to) is its Unified Memory speed is doubled, from 200 to 400 GC/s. The only difference between the chips is the GPU and number of cores. Anyway change your cores to 2 only and freeze tracks as necessary and the surprises will go away. So all us suckers have paid 3k for a job that a $700 machine can do better. But for now, the "it just works" of apple is gone. Perhaps there's a more pro version of my solution. Now, another fix? I have heard about assigning cores to instruments. You can't have mysterious clicking bugs in an audio app. These machines are so overpowered for music it's ridiculous. Since the benefit of the pro over M1 is cores and Max over Pro is accelerators and bandwidth, none of that matters for music right now. All those clicks and pops you hear in your music non-stop? You can fix those by changing core usage from automatic to 2. Why? The new machines can not multithread. Using 32-bit and other plugins with Logic X (and Logic 9)Īligning regions: One track snaps to -25, the other snaps to -24.9?ĭo not buy a pro or max m1 for music.
